I cannot connect my Philips Wireless Motion Sensing System
Pairing a Motion Sensing Plug or Door Sensor
Scanning the QR code
- Please scan the QR code in adequate lighting to ensure optimal recognition by your device's camera.
- Make sure that you are scanning the QR code on the back of the device you are trying to connect. Each Sensing Plug and Door Sensor has a unique QR code on the back of the housing.
Pairing your device
- In all cases, the device should be in "pairing mode", meaning the light is slowly blinking blue when plugged into a power source. If this is not the case, perform a manual reset and try to pair again.
Connecting your Motion Sensing Plug (Hub) to Wi-Fi
- Check if you are using a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. If you are using a 5 GHz network, switch to a 2.4 GHz network and scan the QR code again. To find out what Wi-Fi network you have check the section "2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network?".
- Make sure that your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that you want to connect your Motion Sensing System to.
- Make sure that you have entered the correct Wi-Fi password. If the password is incorrect, the Motion Sensing Plug will not be able to connect to the network.
- Make sure that the first Motion Sensing Plug you pair is placed within 10 metres from your router.
Manually resetting a Motion Sensing Plug
- Unplug your device. Be careful when unplugging your device. Hold it from the back and pull gently away from the socket.
- Hold the Smart Plug button located on the side of your Motion Sensing Plug.
- Plug it back in while holding the Smart Plug button and wait for 5 seconds.
- The LED should start pulsing, which indicates that the reset was successful.
- Power off again. The device is ready to be paired.
2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi network?
If you are unable to define whether your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, please read our troubleshooting advice below:
The name of Wi-Fi networks indicates whether they are 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz:
- On a device that is connected to your Wi-Fi network, open the settings menu.
- Look for the section that displays your Wi-Fi network information.
- The name of your Wi-Fi network may include a suffix that indicates whether it is a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network. For example, if your network name is "MyNetwork_2.4GHz", then it is a 2.4 GHz network.
- The Philips Home Safety Devices can only connect to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, therefore choose this network to connect the device to.
The name of Wi-Fi networks does not indicate 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz:
If the name of the Wi-Fi network does not indicate this, we suggest checking the manual and settings of your modem/router or reaching out to your Internet provider.
