Tropicana fusion

This is the stage where babies are still having breast milk or regular baby formulated milk, puréed and mashed food in teaspoonful quantities. This recipe provides a good source of dietary fiber, beta-carotene (vitamin A) and potassium.

Ingredients

  • 60ml Baby’s usual milk (Use mommy’s breast milk*)
  • ¼ Medium papaya (ripe) (approx. 75g)
  • 1 Medium banana (ripe) (approx. 120g)

Directions

  • Prepare: Peel and slice papaya and banana into 1cm cubes. Place cubes inside jar.

  • Blend: Flip and rotate jar over and lock into blend position. Add milk. Blend 3-5 times for 10 seconds each until the desired consistency is reached.

  • Serve: Transfer the desired quantity to a bowl and serve.

  • The remaining purée can be removed from the jar and stored in an airtight container in the fridge (≤5°C) for 24 hours or freezer (≤-18°C) for 1-3 months.

* Disclaimer: Mommy’s breastmilk is the best choice. Alternatively, replace with the breast milk substitute your child uses if breast milk is not available.

Chef's tip

  • To prevent browning, peel the bananas just before preparation.
  • Do not use underripe bananas as they contain resistant starch which might cause flatulence.
  • Do not use underripe papaya as the enzymes and certain bioactive compounds might cause abdominal cramps.
