Philips FidelioSoundSphere docking speakers

I want to buy more and put them around my house. Where can I get them

Couldn't wait to get my hands on these and was not disappointed. I have a large collection of speakers and these are definitely high on my favourites list. Had some minor problems connecting wirelessly initially and could not get the docking station to work but dont need it anyway. Its a shame they did not have independent amplifiers and wireless receivers in each speaker to make them truly wireless (ie: no wires needed for connection between the two speakers). The internet radio feature promised in some advertising by Philips seems to have been removed from the SoundStudio application and the . That is a shame quite frankly. The quality of sound makes up for everything and I can't believe the quality of the finish. You would be forgiven for looking at them and thinking of a European brand which would demand a price tag four times the RRP for these babies.

I have had these speakers for quite some time now. I had them hooked up via a standard audio output from my 27" iMac. At first they had a very dark, non lively sound and they lacked excitement. I tried different settings but wasn't too happy especially having Canton reference speakers sitting in my living room (ok 10x the price to be fair and not a real comparison). However I thought I try something different. I hooked these up to an Audiolab M-Dac via a high quality XLR to 3,5" cable and used high quality FLAC files. I could not believe my ears. The speakers came alive!!! Seriously. the presence and soundstage was astonishing. Since then a few friends came over and I let them play in my room and 2 of my mates who are huge B&W fans started smiling when they came in the room. Nobody could believe how good these are. For the price just as a pair of active speakers alone, dont think twice.

These sound great and look good too. I gave it some thought before buying and they are worth the money. Took me a while to realise exactly how to set them up on my home network but it was easy to do once I read the right bit and no issues at all. I was concerned about kids fingers getting into the bass speaker but there are grills on them which are virtually invisible. Its impossible not to pick them up by the tweeters but they are extremely sturdy and well made!

Unlike most docks and iPod speakers, these produce the most amazing deep and full sound like you would expect from an expensive, high end separates hi-fi system. Their larger size and design allows real bass and depth to be created, and the ability to position each speaker seperately means you can easily create a perfect, room filling sound, however big your space. The AirPlay has been seamless for my and visitors devices, taking a second or two to sync and then playing without interruption. Despite the perceived lower quality of mp3 files compared to CD, I've found that iTunes bought and Rdio streamed tracks sound crystal clear, often live sounding in quality. A good quality, multiple channel (mimo) wireless router will be of great benefit if you have thick walls or a large space. My ISP free issued router had caused some buffering over AirPlay, but replacing with an Apple Airport Extreme or TimeCapsule completely solved the problem.

A wonderful sound experience with a touch of aesthetic harmony and a simple ease of use that is practical.

Great sound, Airplay works well. A periodic problem not playing on first play from the iPad prevents me from giving this a 5 star performance (iPad tries to connect and fails sometimes the first time I play). But this is a minor issue. Once I try again it works. Since it's so easy to disconnect a single speaker and bring it somewhere else, I WISH the single speaker would play mono once disconnected from the other speaker. But, these are the best airplay speakers I've used, and they look and sound great. Highly recommended.

Say what you will about Philips Consumer Products over the years, if Philips goes "up market" and at the same time aligns themselves with mainstream technology like Airplay, they can significantly improve their brand cache and command better prices. This product is a real winner. Wow!!

Hi guys, I agree that the WIFI Airplay of these beauties is flaw but you can always convert them to use bluetooth through the use of an external bluetooth receiver via the MP3 link - that is what I did and they work flawlessly... enjoy

I have other fidelio speakers, so I got these as whim,they really are good sound is crisp and wet for the size.... Would have liked them to be louder tho. Philips software is a bit hit and miss, but if you make sure you have updated and then persevere........ you won't be disappointed.
