The coffee from my Philips Coffee Maker is not hot enough

Published on 01 February 2024
If you find that the coffee from your Philips Coffee Maker is not hot enough, please see some tips below on how you can fix this.
If you are using a glass jug, you can try the tips below on how to keep your coffee temperature hot:
  • Make sure the glass jug is placed on the hotplate properly
  • Make sure the hotplate and the bottom of the jug are clean
  • Use thin cups. Thin cups will absorb less heat from the coffee than thicker cups
  • Make sure the size of the cup matches the amount of coffee. Do not pour a small amount of coffee into a large cup.
  • If you drink coffee with fresh milk, pre-heat the milk in the cup in a microwave.
  • Descale your coffee maker regularly.
If you are using an insulated jug, you can try the tips below on how to keep your coffee temperature hot:
  • Pre-heat the jug by rinsing it with hot water before brewing
  • Make a full jug of coffee
  • Use thin cups. Thin cups will absorb less heat from the coffee than thicker cups
  • Make sure the size of the cup matches the amount of coffee. Do not pour a small amount of coffee into a large cup.
  • If you drink coffee with fresh milk, pre-heat the milk in the cup in a microwave.
  • Descale your coffee maker regularly.
If you are using the Philips Coffee Maker HD5416, please see some tips below on how you can fix this.
Always press the on/off button to properly turn off your coffee maker.

Allowing the valve under the water tank to close before you unplug the appliance or power it off at the wall socket will prevent cold water from running straight into the filter during your next brew.
Before you fill the water tank with the required fresh cold water, always press the on/off button first to make sure that the coffee maker is turned off, and therefore the valve under the water tank is closed.
Allow your Philips Coffee Maker to shut down automatically in 40 minutes. The valve under the water tank will be closed.
