My Philips Steam Generator Iron does not produce steam

Published on 12 February 2024

If your Philips Steam Generator Iron has stopped producing steam, please read our troubleshooting advice below to solve this.

If you've checked all of the solutions below and your appliance is still not producing steam, please contact us at www.philips.com/contact for further assistance. There could be a technical issue with your steam generator iron and we will be happy to help you.

If the water level in the water tank is below the minimum or is empty, your appliance will not generate steam. Ensure that there is water in the tank or that the water is above the MIN level icon. After this, your iron should work again.

Your steam generator iron needs up to two minutes to heat up before it is ready to produce steam. Please wait until the blue/white 'iron ready' light stops flashing and lights up continuously.

To generate steam, please make sure that you press the steam trigger:

  • If you have a Philips Steam Generator Iron with a temperature dial, always set the temperature dial to the 2-dot, 3-dot or LINEN position as shown in the image below.

  • Your steam generator iron does not produce steam when the temperature dial is at the 1-dot position, on the SYNTH setting or in Calc-Clean.

  • If your iron has an OptimalTemp feature, you can generate more steam by pressing and holding the steam trigger.

  • If your steam generator iron has the Steam Boost function, you can double-press the steam trigger to activate it.

When the red Calc-Clean light starts blinking and you hear a beeping sound, please descale your iron.

If you have descaled your appliance (and checked the other solutions mentioned in this article) but it is still not producing steam, please contact us at
www.philips.com/contact for further assistance.

When you press the steam trigger for the first time, you will experience a delay of around 30 seconds. During these 30 seconds, keep pressing the steam trigger until steam comes out.

Note:

  • The pumping sound you hear is normal.
  • If the iron was stored for a long time, the delay could last up to a few minutes.
