Laying The Best Foundation For A Healthy Start In Life

Explore the stages of the amazing breastfeeding journey - from pregnancy to delivery and maintaining breastfeeding for longer, this World Breastfeeding Week 2018

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia  – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) Understanding that the first 1,000 days of a baby’s life are the most influential in their development, Philips is supporting parents and their babies through every step of the journey. This August 2018, Philips is supporting the World Breastfeeding Week’s theme “Foundation of Life” through ongoing support for healthcare professionals (HCPs).

Research shows that up to 60% of women who breastfeed stop earlier than they want to. The reasons for this are complex and often due to mothers misunderstanding the help and support HCPs can offer. HCPs are in fact positioned to assist women in making informed decisions regarding the breastfeeding of their baby. Furthermore, studies show that women who ask for advice or have direct access to healthcare professionals are more likely to continue to breastfeed for longer.

At Philips, our mission is to improve the lives of 3 billion people a year by 2025 through meaningful innovations in healthcare. We are passionate about helping more women to breastfeed every child for longer through innovation and research. We work closely with parents to test and develop a range of clinically proven breastfeeding solutions aimed at supporting mothers along every stage of their breastfeeding journey. We also recognise the importance of sharing the latest information and research among HCPs, to further facilitate communication and discussion on the topic of breastfeeding.
