Philips Celebrates Ten Years of Managing Kindergartens in 2005 in Malaysia

For 2005, the Philips Kindergarten Project celebrated its 10th Anniversary and to commemorate the celebrations the “Philips Book Prize Award” was introduced.  This was intended to inspire and reward students who had their pre-school education at the two kindergartens sponsored by the corporation, whenever they scored ‘A’s in the national examinations held at both primary and secondary levels.

Recently, nine teenagers (formerly from the Tadika Philips Batu Arang) received their well-earned cash prizes from Philips Malaysia at a special prize presentation ceremony held at their secondary school, Sekolah Tunku Abdul Rahman, Batu Arang.  Each of them received RM100 for each ‘A’ obtained in their Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah ( UPSR) examinations.

The presentation was made more meaningful with the presence of Mrs. Annemieke Kleisterlee and Mrs Martine Wente, wives of the President and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Philips Electronics, and President and Chief Executive Officer for Philips Electronics Asia Pacific, respectively.  Mrs Chandra Kumar, wife of the Chief Executive Officer of Philips Malaysia, and parents of the students were also present to commemorate the visit of the foreign visitors.

The Philips Book Prize Award will be a continuous effort by Philips Malaysia in ensuring the quality of education and at the same time encourage and inspire the children of Philips Kindergarten to always excel in their studies.
