By using philips replacement blades you are guarenteed to achive a nice close shave each time. The secret is to clean them at least every 2 weeks with warm soapy water.. Also I have found them quite easy to split apart and put back together which means you can make sure they are totally clean

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jacko I found the shaver I bought some ago better than this one and although teh new head makes it better, I have been surprised how soon the blades got dull and needed replacing. I wish I had stuck to my old one and not bought this new one.

Buying replacement heads has been the preference for the last couple of years as the main shave unit and cleaning station are still as good as new. The replacement heads don't last more than 14 months for me, which is a little disappointing. Buying two replacements together saved postage costs and I knew I was getting a quality product.

I have used a variety of electric shavers over about 50 years, some quite expensive, and have found this shaver suits me very well, giving me a better and slightly quicker shave than any previous one.
It is disappointing, therefore, to have one of the three cutters fall off after about 18 months while otherwise still giving a good shave.

I have been using a model RQ1051 razor for approx. 7 months. The shaving experience is OK but not noticeably better than previous Philips shavers. But after just 7 months the shaver head has a fault with the springing of one of the cutter limbs and guess what, the shaver head is not covered by the warranty-surprise, surprise!! My first thoughts after purchase were that the shaver head construction was fiddly and weak. The poor design, construction or quality has now been proved.

I was given as a gift the Arcitec RQ1090 shaver at Christmas 2007. I frequenly had to revert to a wet shave to 'feel' I'd had a shave, but continued to use the RQ1090 shaver until Christmas 2009 when the rotary heads began to show signs of wear. I had frequently used the cleaning solution sequence whilst it was charging, but had to eventually buy a replacment rotary head. January 2010, it is now March 19th 2010 and the initial 'new' rotary head feel is begining to wear off. And would you believe it the RED WARNING light displayed at the base of the razor warns me that the rotary head requires replacing. I will see how long it will continue to work, but I refuse to pay another £40:00 for just over 2 months of use! Not Recommended.
