With SimplyHealthy@Schools we aim to share our expertise in many areas contributing to the health and wellbeing of people around the world to improve children’s knowledge of healthy living by providing simple lessons about air, light, water and oral hygiene, as well as exercise and caring for the environment.

Our energy-efficient lighting solutions also help the planet by reducing energy use, while enhancing people’s wellbeing and quality of life. By re-lamping schools as part of the SImplyHealthy@Schools programme we can improve learning conditions and help save energy.

Philips Malaysia Sdn Bhd kicked off its SimplyHealthy@Schools campaign by identifying 3 primary schools targeting students between the ages of 10 to 12. At each school, 3 classrooms were identified by the school where the relamping exercise was meant to help these students improve academically.

The relamping exercise kicked off during the school holidays and hence followed by the official launching ceremony once school reopened. The launch ceremony took place at Assunta 1 Girl’s Primary School with the presence of ministers and directors from the Ministry Of Education and VIPs from NGOs amongst the teachers and students.

The launch ceremony was officiated by Mr. Kaharudin Bin Mohd Yusuff who is the director of the communications department for the Petaling Jaya Education Department along with Mr. Lee Weng Seong, Chairman and CEO of Philips Malaysia Group of Companies.

In the seminar, the 6 powers of Air, Light, Water, Exercise, Smiling and Earth were channeled to the students taking them through the importance, benefits and advantages of mastering the 6 powers. Philips staff from the Lighting division was used as the facilitators where they educated and took the children through the seminar in a fun and interactive manner relating daily live actions and linking it to the 6 powers.

As the kids mastered the powers, their team would be rewarded with a power sticker which they got to stick unto the bunting that they got to keep and hang up in their schools at the end of the seminar. They were also rewarded with the campaign pens and magnets as a token of remembrance.

The overall campaign involved over 15 Philips Lighting staffs, 400 students and 12 teachers making it a success. There are also feedbacks from the Ministry of Education that this campaign should be carried out on a bigger and wider scale covering more schools.
