London, Great Britain – citizenM has won a host of prizes at The European Hotel Design Awards, including the best technology award. citizenM is equipped with intuitive state-of-the-art technology thanks to Philips’ innovative Ambient Experience for hospitality – a custom-designed host of interactive solutions and tools integrating ambience, infotainment, personal care and design. Moreover, the award also recognized citizenM’s innovative booking system, website and check-in terminals.
Philips’ Ambient Experience provides guests with an unprecedented level of simplicity, customization and personalization. There are two main elements to the system. Firstly, the Ambient Experience combines a host of various ambient products, including dynamic LED lighting, VoiP phone, free wifi and FlatTV which contribute to a guest’s overall experience of the hotel room. Secondly, Philips also created a unique back-end network design solution, which enables all different software platforms to work together in a seamless manner. This means that individual hotel rooms and all functionality within them are linked to a central server that manages everything from room temperature and curtain settings, to the welcome message guests receive upon arrival in their room.
Design is a vital instrument in offering seamless user experiences. Added emotion and sensitivity to products and services was achieved by putting people at the heart of the design process in crafting Ambient Experience for citizenM. Ambient Experience is fully integrated into the hotel interior and unobtrusive, meaning that guests enjoy all the benefits of clever and intuitive state-of-the-art technology without being overwhelmed or burdened by complexity or wires. citizenM is therefore able to achieve a clear aesthetically pleasing finish throughout its hotels. Moreover, the technology can be easily applied to new citizenM hotels, meaning that guests are always guaranteed consistency of service wherever they go.
Using the system, all this information can be stored and linked to a personalized RFID card (which guests can keep for future visits), meaning that the hotel remembers returning guests, their preferences and their visiting history. This has helped citizenM create a unique intimacy with their guests and remove the traditional feeling of anonymity from the hotel experience.
The Dutch hotel group citizenM hotels also won the grand prize at the awards, “The European Hotel Design Award of the Year” as well as the “Innovation Award” and the “Graphic Design Award”.
