Lee Weng Seong was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Office of Philips Group of Companices, Malaysia on November 1 2008, makinghim the first Malaysian to be appointed in this capacity in the country.
In his current role, Lee is tasked to drive Philips’ internal and external plans to achieve the company’s overall business goals to remain profitable, and explore business growth opportunities through its various product divisions. He is also responsible to ensure Philips corporate image and profiling, government and other stakeholder relations are continuously secured. He will provide leadership across the sectors of Philips healthcare, lighting and consumer lifestyle to carve the company’s winning formulas in a rapidly developing industry to ensure profitable growth. Being a firm believer in people-empowerment, Lee is committed to further develop the Philips brand in this market and effectively position Philips Malaysia in the global Philips’ map.
Lee’s most recent appointment prior to this was as the ASEAN Regional Director for Philips Healthcare based in Singapore. In this capacity, he was responsible for the overall healthcare business for Philips ASEAN and Pakistan, where through careful and planned strategies, Lee saw the expansion of the business portfolios in the region.
Lee began his illustrious career with Philips Singapore in1984 when he joined as the Marketing Manager for the Telecom and Data Systems division of Philips, and subsequently the Information (IS) Division where he was responsible for Sales and Marketing of turnkey retail banking solutions to financial solutions.
In 1992, Lee joined Digital Equipment Singapore Pte Limited where he garnered extensive experience in key account management and solution delivery as he was responsible for the proposal, delivery and implementation of large Systems Integration (SI) projects involving multi-vendor systems in the Retail Banking and Financial Industry.
In 1994, Lee re-joined Philips in their Philips Medical Systems division(now known as Philips Healthcare) where he has since taken on various responsibilities in marketing & sales leadership positions for the business in the ASEAN countries viz. Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and including Pakistan. His insights, diligence and business acumen contributed to the rapid growth and expansion of Philips Healthcare’s business in these countries by over 400% over the last 8 years.
Lee brings with him a wealth of experience in building organizational excellence, driving customer acquisitions and operational efficiencies, having served with Philips since 1984. With insightful experience in healthcare marketing strategies, Lee has a proven track record for delivering high results in a very competitive healthcare business to business environment for both Singapore and the ASEAN region.
Lee is married with two children and holds a Bachelors degree in Engineering in the area of Electrical and Electronics and a Masters in Business Administration.
